And most of the people who were recorded laughing are dead now. When you hear people laughing in sitcoms today, it’s the recorded laughter of dead people.

Well that escalated quickly

The bolded is kinda bullshit. Yes, some of the old laugh tracks are used, but so are a variety of laugh sounds, many of which are just patched together to form an array of different responses to a joke*. Which leads to the second bit: I Love Lucy was pre so many major laugh-tracked sitcoms that its laugh track actually sounds like something specifically from the era. Source for all.

*Or in the case of The Big Bang Theory, make the show seem like it’s actually funny.
